VialVue keeps a record of the medications you take. That is health information, and this page explains plainly what we store, where it lives, and what we never do with it.

What we store

Your account email address, and a password you choose. We never see your password — it is handled by our sign-in provider and stored only as an encrypted value.

If you sign in with Apple instead, Apple shares your name and an email address with us. You can choose to have Apple hide your real address, in which case we only ever see a private relay address that forwards to you.

The profiles you set up: a name, and optionally a date of birth and any allergies. Date of birth and allergies are there so the record you share with a prescriber identifies the right person and warns them appropriately.

Your medications and everything you record about them — dose, schedule, directions, the times you marked each dose taken or skipped, and any pharmacy or prescription details you entered or scanned.

Where it is stored

Your information is stored in a hosted database, protected so that only your own account can read or write it. That protection is enforced by the database itself, not only by the app.

Your signed-in session is kept in your device’s secure storage, the same place other apps keep sign-in details.

Photos you scan

When you scan a label or a document, the photo is sent securely to our server and passed to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI, which reads the text on it. A prescription label usually shows the patient’s name and address as well as the medication, so this is health information, and the app asks for your permission before your first scan.

Anthropic does not use your photos to train its AI. It deletes them within 30 days, keeping them longer only where it needs to investigate misuse of its service or meet a legal obligation.

We do not save the photo in your account or keep it ourselves. Nothing a scan finds is saved until you review it and confirm it yourself.

People you care for

If you manage medications for someone else, the information you add about them — their name, medications and anything you scan for them — is stored in your account in the same way as your own.

When you add someone, you confirm that you have their permission, or are otherwise authorized (for example as their caregiver, guardian or under a power of attorney), to store and manage their medication information in VialVue. You can remove a person, and everything stored for them, at any time.

Reminders

Medication reminders are scheduled on your device and appear from your device. They are not sent through a server, so no one else is told when a dose is due or whether you took it.

Payments

Subscriptions are bought through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handles your payment, and we never see your card or bank details. We receive only what we need to know whether your subscription is active, such as the plan you chose and when it renews.

What we do not do

We do not show advertising, and we never sell or share your information for marketing.

We do not use analytics or tracking tools. The app contains no advertising or analytics software of any kind.

We do not use your health information to build a profile of you or to make decisions about you.

Location

If you allow it, your location is used only to show a pharmacy’s position on a map while you are looking at that medication. It is not recorded, stored, or used for anything else, and the app works normally if you say no.

Sharing your own record

When you export a summary as a PDF, it is created on your device and handed to your phone’s normal share options. You decide who receives it. It does not pass through us.

Your choices

You can edit or delete any medication at any time, and archive ones you have finished with.

You can delete your account from inside the app. Deleting your account permanently removes your profiles, medications, dose history and activity log. This cannot be undone.

Children

VialVue is intended for adults. It is not designed for, or directed at, children under 13.

A parent or guardian can keep track of a child’s medications from their own account, by adding the child as a profile.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we store or how it is used, we will update this page and the date shown at the top of it.
